Douglas Hammel is uniquely qualified for the position of Juvenile Court Judge based on his qualifications and devotion to the youth of New Orleans. A graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., he majored in Criminal Justice, studying crime in our society as well as incarceration rates and the effects of incarceration on Juveniles. Douglas went to Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans where he graduated in 2000 with a Juris Doctorate degree. Shortly after graduating, Douglas worked as a prosecutor in Jefferson Parish from 2001-2004 and has since managed his own law office helping the citizens of New Orleans in Criminal and Civil matters during that time. Douglas is married to Dr. Mignonne C. Mary and has 3 children.
